GoDaddy Employees Banned from TDNAM Auctions |
|
Numerous blog posts have been devoted lately to criticisms of various registrars who operate after market auctions. This week, one of those registrars, GoDaddy, has responded to public pressure and banned their employees from participating in the auctions altogether, after their VP of Domain Name After Market was observed bidding against customers for highly-valued names, according to Wired Blogs and users on NamePro forum.
"To ensure customer confidence and to avoid any possible future questions of impropriety all [GoDaddy] employees are now and in the future prohibited from participating in TDNAM [The Domain Name After Market] auctions," a GoDaddy representative told Wired.
Adam Dicker, the high-profile GoDaddy employee in question, was a successful domainer before joining GoDaddy. He founded a company which claims to own 60,000 domain names and 3,600 web sites. This has led to speculation that Dicker not only acted improperly towards the customers, but may have conflicting interests with respect to his employer; however, GoDaddy informed Wired Blogs that Dicker's company, High Impact Sites, is "essentially dormant now."
