Domain sales growth is on the rise overall. According to VeriSign's new The Domain Name Industry Brief, Q3 saw a 19 percent increase over the same quarter last year, and two percent growth compared to previous quarter. However, new name registrations declined by two percent in both the same comparisons, the report said.
Country code domains saw an overall growth rate of five percent over last quarter and 26 percent over last year, VeriSign reported. Dot-com and dot-net growth was flat compared to overall figures, at only 16 percent vs. last year, according to the report. As we previously reported, overall growth this year vs. last was recently reported as down by half, from 30 percent to roughly 15 percent, according to Nominet. The report also cited some shuffling among the ccTLD rankings, and a maturation of the online video industry. The full VeriSign report can be downloaded here. News report compiled by Nathan Hawks |
