Readership Demographics
In December 2006, there were an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 individual domainers worldwide and more than 120 million registered domains, showing a growth of 32% from the previous year. Dot com domains are still the most popular, with 63% of all .com and .net domains resolving to live websites. In 2006, domainers renewed 76% of expiring domains. A report in USA Today states that known sales of 5,851 domain names generated $29 million in 2005, compared with known sales of 3,813 domain names for $15 million in 2004.
