Wireless Associations Form Mobile Alliance |
A not-for-profit forum, authorized by .MOBI and charged with making sure the domain extension is used in the best ways possible, recently teamed up with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA).
The dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG) and CWTA recently agreed to promote the development of mobile Internet services through .MOBI domains, as well as a common set of industry best practices for mobile browsing, content, email, commerce and advertising. The .MOBI top level domain (TLD) is the first and only ICANN-appointed TLD designed exclusively for identifying mobile content for use on mobile phones. To date, more than 500,000 .MOBI domains have been registered since the domain’s launch in September 2006. With more than half of all Canadians owning a mobile phone, ensuring that they can connect to the content they want, wherever and whenever they want it, is paramount, according to Peter Barnes, president and CEO of CWTA.
